We know how important it is for children, young people, and their families to have all the information they need about our service. Below we have put together a list of some common questions we often get asked. Don't worry if your question isn’t listed – we are just a message away and more than happy to provide any further information you might need.
When new clients get in touch with our service we will offer a free 15 x minute telephone consultation. This allows us to discuss presenting difficulties, your hopes for psychological therapy, and whether we are the most suitable service to provide support.
If you decide to receive support from our service we will send you all necessary paperwork, including our privacy policy and assessment information.
Prior to your Initial Assessment appointment (first appointment) we will send you all relevant information via email.
When you arrive at the Greenbank Rooms in Clarkston there is a buzzer with the room numbers for you to press to gain access to the building. If you arrive early for your appointment we have a waiting area for children and families to use.
We allow families to have a choice of who attends the appointment, although we do recommend that during the first appointment it may be helpful for children and carers to attend to discuss current concerns. We will offer if the child or young person wishes to have some time on their own during this appointment.
During the appointment we will talk about what has led you to consider therapy, your current difficulties, and your goals for therapy. We will create an individual and collaborative plan for next steps in psychological treatment, allowing time for any additional questions you may have.
The duration of psychological treatment can vary depending on many factors, including the therapeutic approach used, and the individual needs of the child or young person.
We will discuss our treatment recommendations during your first appointment. We pride ourselves on evidence-based practice and ensure we adhere to current recommendations.
Most evidence-based psychological therapies recommend between 8 to 12 appointments, with appointments often held fortnightly. In some cases, longer-term or weekly treatment may be beneficial, particularly for children facing more complex presenting difficulties.
Initial Assessment appointment (first appointment), and treatment appointments last 60 minutes (1 hour).
Initial telephone consultations for up to 15 minutes to discuss whether you would like to arrange an appointment are free.
Both Initial Assessment appointments (first appointment), and therapy appointments are priced at £90 for hourly appointments.
